Bridge Bearing

Bridge bearings are structural equipment or devices installed between bridge substructure and superstructure to transfer the applied load including earthquake loads; wind loads; traffic loads; and superstructure self-weight. In general, there are four types of bearings, which is commonly used. Those are elastomeric bearings, disc bearing, pot bearings and spherical bearing.

We can design the bearing conforming to AASHTO LRFD 2012, EN1337 or BS5400, depending on project specification.

Elastomeric bearings are used for vertical loads generally less than 18,000 kN. These bearing are made up of a series of elastomeric layers and steel plates.

Mechanical bearing (Disc Bearing, Pot Bearing, Spherical Bearing) are used to take up very high vertical loads. There are three types of bearing, distinguished by the movement, those are free sliding, guided sliding and fix bearing.
